Off Grid and Emergency Back Up Systems September 2018

Course Description

The Off Grid and Emergency Back Up Systems workshop connects the fundamentals of photovoltaic and wind energy production with the components required for back up systems for off-grid systems or emergency back up energy systems for homes.

The topics covered in this course include charge controllers, batteries, inverters and generators, and are applicable to battery-based back-up power systems. In the afternoon, participants will assemble the components of a small cabin sized system as a practicum.

Please note: 

  • A Solar and Wind Energy course, or training equivalent, is a required prerequisite for taking this course.
  • All participants are advised to dress according to the weather, as a portion of this workshop will take place outdoors.
  • Lunch and refreshments will be provided

This course suitable for anyone involved or interested in the design and construction of Off-Grid and Emergency Back Up Systems.

 

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the components required for back up systems for off-grid systems or emergency back up energy systems for homes
2. Describe the process for using charge controllers, batteries, inverters and generators, for back-up power systems
